Meet Our Staff - February 2007
 
Overseeing Growth at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission
 
Nancy Gwyn had her own experiences of what it was like to work in a non-profit organization- many of which were not good- and she had no reason to think that working at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission would be much different. But she had hope.

So she came to the Mission when she heard about an opportunity to serve in the Business Office. Already working at a very large and successful business, Nancy was growing more and more aware of the Lord tugging at her to find a place for her to use her skills for Him. On the day Nancy drove to the Mission for her interviews, she parked her car and before entering the building, joy opened the door for her. Joy's name that day was Tommy Thatcher. Tommy stood and talked with Nancy for a few minutes, telling her stories about how God was changing men's lives and how the Lord had used the Mission in his life to pull him through some rough, rough waters. Nancy was overcome by his joy.
Nancy came to serve at the Mission almost five years ago, and God has used her to oversee a season of meaningful growth. She marvels at how God's has multiplied and stretched the provisions that come into the ministry.

One of the greatest blessings Nancy relishes is seeing how men in the New Life Program change right before her eyes. "When the men first come into the program, they are withdrawn and untrusting. But as time goes on, they receive Christ as their Savior, work through the program and they change." Nancy sees them walking with their heads up, and speaking freely about the hope they have found.

A Certified Public Accountant, Nancy has skills that would allow her to work anywhere, but she has chosen to serve here at the Mission, stewarding over a very critical part of the Mission's operations. Through her dedication to prayer and sensitivity, she has also become a big contributor to the peace and joy that is so evident at the Mission. One only has to meet her to know that the joy Tommy shared with her five years ago has not waned. Thank you, Nancy, for being such a faithful and joyous servant and friend.
