Practical Support - Marie Robinson
Meet Our Staff - May 2007

Women's Day Room Supervisor
Marie establishes training and classes to help women.

Every now and then the Lord brings someone into the service of the homeless at the Mission to prepare a specific ministry to meet a growing need. Marie Robinson came to the Mission for just that purpose.

Marie came to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission less than two years ago, initially serving as a volunteer and then coming on staff as the Supervisor of the Women's Dayroom. How God has used her to shape and prepare that ministry to address the increasing numbers of homeless women is a testimony to her practical vision and a tireless pursuit of the heart of God for the women who live on our streets.

Any afternoon, you can see how God has used Marie to help homeless women in a meaningful and practical way. She is a firm believer that the work she does on behalf of homeless women is a ministry, used by God to permanently change lives. She is a sensitive, hands on type of leader, who rejoices in even the smallest demonstration of a new faith growing and the smallest prayers being answered.

Marie has been instrumental in providing practical help for women by establishing regular classes and training in areas which can help homeless women overcome the issues that caused their homelessness.

Classes on Parenting, Emotional Wellness, Domestic Violence issues, Budgeting, Finance and Job Search Readiness are all well attended and are helping women with very practical issues. Marie has an effective follow-up program for the women who use the dayroom to encourage and support the ones that are making the sincere effort to turn their lives around.

Marie believes that one of the most crucial needs for women in transition is the security of knowing that they are safe, secure and that the good relationships they form while they are at the Mission will continue even when they have been restored and are living independently.

Thank you Marie for your faithfulness to help prepare this ministry to meet the growing needs of the women on the streets. Your practical vision for an effective Christ centered restorative program has touched the lives of hundreds.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

3 John 1:8
