“Dedicated” is an Understatement - Rene Palacios
Meet Our Staff - November 2007

Director of Programs
Thirteen years of service with more to come.

Rene is well known to be quiet, understated, and deeply dedicated to God in his daily work with the New Life Program members and staff here at the Mission. He began working for Albuquerque Rescue Mission 13 years ago when it was lodged in a much smaller building. The New Life Program had a capacity limit of only 14 men and the women’s program did not exist. His “desk” was a small folding table and there were far fewer staff to manage the heavy workload. The education program was formed from a home school-mailing program, while many basic teaching tools, like computers, were out of the question.

His growth in experience and leadership was gained by spending a combined 10 years as the learning center manager/chaplain, assistant director/chaplain, and now 3 years at his present position; Director of Programs, and has been an essential part of the Mission’s expansion plans. His view on what the Mission accomplishes with the New Life Program is; “ A wheel with spokes – these men and women experience a renewed life from drugs, alcohol, and bad choices in their lives through behavioral, education, work and social programs; encircled by the power of God’s Love.”

Rene is also directly responsible for a staff of ten now and is ready to take on more work, with God’s help, towards the continued growth and vision of this Mission’s work that includes - our women’s residential program to include children. A large apartment complex for working families with: childcare, after school activities, job training, and a kitchen/meal service. Along with a residential program for the mentally ill which includes: short-term care and long-term rehabilitation, and follow- up ensuring their successful reentry into society. Thank you Rene - for all your hard work and support over these many years!

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Galatians 6:2
