Accounting All Appreciation
Volunteers Making a Difference - February 2009

Pat's valuable addition to the accounting team

Volunteerism comes in many forms here at the Mission. Serving meals, helping with special events, and witnessing to our guests are just a few ways of volunteering. Pat Pierson has given great amounts of her time and talent on the administrative side of the day to day running of the Mission for nearly three years. Pat began her volunteer work here, as many do, through her church family, Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, taking a Mission tour. She wanted to be a part of the work of the Mission and asked where she could help out. She has been an invaluable member of the accounting team ever since. When asked, Accounting Clerk Allena Hogue said, “Tuesdays are always a blessing to me because I know Pat will be here to help. Her faithfulness in coming each week enables me to "save up" various tasks knowing she will do them. I appreciate her cheerful willingness to work in new areas. Pat volunteered originally to help batch our donations on Tuesdays. Now she stays to assist me in filing, recording purchase orders and invoices paid, and coding our donations for computer entry to name a few of her regular duties. Pat strives to complete each task accurately and as quickly as possible, and then asks, "What else do you have for me to do?" Like I said, Tuesdays are a blessing because Pat comes.” Nancy Gwyn, Director of Finance, also adds to Pat’s praises, “Pat is reliable, dependable, and eager. She is a delight to work with and a blessing to all.” Thank you, Pat for, your outstanding volunteer service!

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

3 John 1:8
